Present condition: | I HAD A BRAINSTEM STROKE, & WAS LOCKED-IN 4 SEVERAL MONTHS. I HAD A CATHTER, TRACHE, & G-TUBE. NOW I HAVE NO TUBES. I AM IN A WHEELCHAIR, BUT IF HELD RIGHT, I CAN WALK, DESPITE BEING PARALYZED ON MY LEFT SIDE! I CAN SAY A FEW GARBLED WORDS, I CAN WRITE, I CAN MOVE MY HEAD & RIGHT ARM...DESPITE DOUBLE VISION, I'M A PUBLISHED DIGITAL SCRAPBOOKER. Present condition: | no longer truly locked-in. With strangers, I am but with cares and close friends and relatives, I mouthe the shapes of letters/words with tiny movements, which they are able to lip-read. I have fairly good head movement, I learnt to eat and drink over a period of 2 years, I have a urostomy and colostomy (which are brilliant), I also use a computer via SmartNav so I'm very lucky as far as people who have this condion go. |
